Department: Northumbria Law School

Kayliegh Richardson is an Associate Professor and Head of Apprenticeship in law at Northumbria Law School. Kayliegh joined the law school in 2015 following a successful career in legal practice as a family law solicitor at a leading regional law firm and continues to hold a legal practising certificate. Kayliegh's research is influenced by her time in legal practice, considering the access to justice barriers for survivors of domestic abuse who are engaged in family court proceedings. In particular, Kayliegh considers the impact of the legal aid cuts on survivors as well as the protective measures introduced by the Domestic Abuse Act 2021. Kayliegh is one of the co-leads of the Gendered Violence and Abuse Interdisciplinary Research Theme at Northumbria, having previously convened the Gendered Violence and Abuse Research Network. In her spare time, Kayliegh sits on the Independent Scrutiny and Oversight Board for Northumbria Police.
