Amanda McBride

Assistant Professor

Department: Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing

Amanda is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing (SWECW). Based on the BA (Hons) Childhood and Early Years Studies degree, she teaches modules which explore young people's lives. She is particularly interested in the role of gender in our social world and her work uses creative, qualitative methods of enquiry.

She is a member of Northumbria University’s Gender, Violence and Abuse Interdisciplinary Research Theme and leads the SWECW Power, Culture and Identities research group. Her current research focusses on how schools can support children experiencing domestic abuse
